Where is Coron island?

The Philippines is an archipelagic country located in Southeast Asia, between the Philippine Sea and the South China Sea. It’s situated east of Vietnam, north of Indonesia, and south of Taiwan. Bordered by the Philippine Sea to the east, the South China Sea to the west, and the Celebes Sea to the south. The capital of the Philippines is Manila, which is located on the island of Luzon.

Coron is located in the northern part of Palawan, a province in the western part of the Philippines. The island is part of the Calamian Islands and is situated in the Calamianes group of islands, which also includes the islands of Busuanga and Culion. 

How to go to Coron Palawan?

You will initially need to travel to Manilla (MNL), the capital of the Philippines. You can find direct flights from as far afield as London, New York, Toronto, LA, San Francisco, Sydney and Auckland. From Manila, you need to take a domestic flight to Busuanga/Coron (USU), it’s normally best to book this flight leg separately.

Typically your domestic flight will be the day after you arrive in the Philippines so an overnight in a hotel in Manilla will likely be required. Please arrive in Busuanga/Coron (USU) at 11.15am so we can pick you up from the airport. (Alternatively, you can arrive before and make your way in a collective van to a hotel of your choosing, we love the Funny Lion hotel.

We also love using flight connection maps to find your best route from where you live. For example, it is possible for some people ‘Cebu (CEB)’ could be a cheaper stop over city to Manilla.

Best Time to Visit Coron, Philippines

Coron, Philippines is a beautiful island paradise that offers plenty of opportunities for adventure and relaxation. The best time to visit Coron is during the dry season, which runs from November to May, and this is when we run our expeditions. During this time, the weather is sunny and dry, with little to no rain and few insects, making it the perfect time to explore the island’s beaches, dive sites, and other attractions.

The months of March to May are particularly ideal for visiting Coron, as the water is calm and clear, making it the perfect time for diving and snorkeling. The temperature during these months can reach up to 32°C (90°F), so visitors should make sure to stay hydrated and wear sunscreen.

The rainy season in Coron runs from June to October, with the heaviest rainfall occurring in July and August. While the island may be less crowded during this time, some activities like island hopping and diving may be affected due to strong winds and rough waters. However, this season can still be a good time to visit for those who don’t mind the occasional rain shower and prefer a more laid-back atmosphere.

What to Do In Coron?
