The Day-by-Day
Day 1: Into the Swedish wild. We meet you in Sundsvall and head deep into the boreal forest to base camp. Briefing done, the bushcraft begins.
Day 2: Finding food in the forest. Foraging and plant identification, fishing the lake, animal tracking and trapping theory (no trapping in southern Sweden, but you’ll learn how).
Day 3: Fire and shelter. Boreal fire-craft, from feather sticks to the bow drill, then shelter, cordage and knots in the afternoon.
Day 4: Shelter and the long game. More on building a home that holds the weather, plus water purification and wilderness cooking.
Day 5: Mindset and final prep. Survival psychology, strategy, and the last skills you’ll need before you go it alone.
Day 6-8: Solo survival. You hike to your own lakeside spot with a knife, a pot and a sleeping bag. From here, it’s just you.
Day 9: Rescue. You’ve made it. A drink and snacks, then a hotel that feels like ten stars, the best shower of your life, a spa, a feast and a celebratory dinner.
Day 10: Departure. Out of the forest and home, changed.
This is the shape of the expedition, not a fixed timetable. The exact training days flex with the weather and conditions, that’s part of the adventure.

Sweden is cooler than our tropical trips. Layer up, stay dry, sleep warm. Typical conditions: highs around 16°C, lows around 5°C, occasional rain, and very long daylight in summer (sometimes 17+ hours). Pack light. Less is more. Decathlon is a great shout for quality at a sensible price.

You will need to travel to Sundsvall (fly to Stockholm, Sweden (Stockholm Arlanda Airport ARN ) and then take a train). You should arrive around midday of your expedition start date. Your departing flight should be no earlier than 3pm on the final day.
We recommend you download Hopper’ for your phone and enter your dates. They will tell you when the best time to book your flights is before the price creeps up, typically 90 days prior is optimum.
We also love using flight connection maps for finding your best route from where you live.
Google flights is our favourite flight search engines, however, we always recommend booking directly with the airline once you have found your flights as you will have a preferential cancellation policy and better upgrade potential.
“One of the best experiences of my life. I joined the 10-day Sweden bushcraft and survival trip… Being left to look after myself in the Swedish wilderness was as rewarding as it was challenging.”
Giles Murray
“Did the 10-day Sweden Proper bushcraft training, then 4 nights solo on a lake with very limited kit. I came home with actual skills and a much quieter head.”
Ivo De Mas
“I had a great time in Sweden! Would never want to miss that experience. Thanks to our guides Kian and Tom. 100% recommendation!”
It starts and ends in Sundsvall, which is a 3-hour train ride away from Stockholm. Please arrive at noon on the start day. You can book your train back anytime on the departure day.
Yes for the final 3 days you will be entirely alone. When was the last time you didn’t talk to another human for 3 days? For many never, this is a wonderful time for introspection disconnection and growth.
Yes, it is possible to pair up or undertake this with a friend or two, it’s your call.
If you feel like you can no longer continue you can be rescued and camp out with the instructors for the remaining days.
All of our instructors are wilderness first aid qualified. For the final 3 days you will check in via one-way phone in the AM and PM. Just like on the TV show Alone.
Isolated, it’s unlikely you will see another human or signs of humans. Though not far from Sundsvall this is still a wild and isolated area of Sweden, not as the north but given the ease of access it feels like you are cut off.
