“Just back from the Tonga trip and can honestly say this was an amazing life changing experience. The instructors were super knowledgeable and helpful and are practically celebrities in the bushcraft world.”

“I originally was very afraid of a few aspects of isolation period, but they really know how to prepare both your skills and your mind that on the day before the isolation, I was thinking “let’s do this, can’t wait to start”. I completely recommend this trip to anyone looking for a lifetime adventure.”

“All I can say is WOW! This trip may just be the perfect adventure. Why? Two words: Training and Survival. Training is flat out fun and you learning useful skills (friction fire, finding that perfect coconut cake, etc). Then survival may be even better.”

5-day survival course phase
The first 5 days on the island are designed to build up your skill set and confidence in living in this new environment. We call it ‘survival-lite’ because you sleep in Hennessy expedition hammocks whilst being catered for with an excellent spread of food, much of which is locally sourced. We catch plenty of fish (equipped with spearguns, rods, and cast nets) and collect wild edibles for castaways who don’t eat meat.
We dedicate each morning to developing your survival skills with a focus on the 4 key elements of survival; shelter, fire, water, and food. As the primary survival skills, we explore different techniques to build a shelter, start a fire by friction, collect and purify water, catch fish and cook together.
After a relaxed lunch and siesta, we spend the afternoons fishing, exploring, or simply enjoying paradise. In the evenings, we play games and sit around the campfire eating a communal meal we all helped catch and cook.
Above all, we prioritise fun experiences. This is no boot camp, we create a light and enjoyable learning environment. Each evening, we play games and pass around a bottle of rum.
3 day Survival challenge phase
After completing your training phase, your 72 hour survival challenge begins. It’s time to dig deep, to really connect with nature and yourself. You and your tribe head out to a different part of the island to put into practice the new skills you’ve learned, equipped with no more than a machete, knife, basic fishing equipment, medikit, and satellite phone.
When was the last time you did not know where your next meal was coming from? For some castaways, this is one of the toughest challenges they have ever endured. It is a physical and psychological endeavour that will connect you deeper with yourself, and leave you with a tremendous sense of achievement and gratitude for modern convenience. For those wishing for complete solitude during these 3 days, we offer the option to add on a ‘total isolation’ package. Contact us to check availability.
After 3 days, you hear the distant humming of a speedboat on the horizon meaning, yep, you’re saved!. You are handed a cold beer or coke as you whoosh back to the hotel to eat up a storm and enjoy the best shower of your life. That evening we go out for a celebratory meal and try to put the experience into words.
