What Will You Learn at the Bushcraft Training Phase?

During the Bushcraft Training Phase, you’ll dive with your instructor into the basic bushcraft skills essential for wilderness survival.

Over the next 5 days you will be trained in the key skills to equip you with practical knowledge, and hands-on experience, preparing you for the final phase: isolation and for any other adventure or unexpected situation you might face in the wild.

Shelter Survival Skills

Understanding how to construct a reliable shelter is crucial for protection and comfort. You’ll learn:
  • Techniques for building various types of shelters using natural materials
  • How to choose the best location for your shelter
  • Ways to waterproof your shelter and weave palms.
  • The importance of shelter in emergency survival situations
  • Cordage making and knot tying

Fire Survival Skills

Fire is a fundamental element of bushcraft, vital for warmth, cooking, safety and signalling. This module covers:
  • Various methods of starting friction fires such as bow drill, hand drill, bamboo fire saw and even plough.
  • Basic fire building techniques and fire steel use.
  • Maintaining and controlling a fire safely in different environments
  • Using fire for cooking, purifying water
  • The role of fire in emergency signalling

Water Survival Skills

Securing potable water is a top priority in the wild. You’ll explore:
